Our library is a combined School and Public Library, serving the needs of our Staff, Students and Community members. The library is available to Staff and Students every day of school, and to the Public, on Tuesdays and Fridays during regular school hours. Computers are available for use by everyone upon signing a PRSD User Agreement.
Since we are a school housed library our hours are dependent on the overall operation of the school. During diploma exam season the library is used by students and may cause a disruption in library service. Exams are written in January and June. Please call ahead during these times to ensure there are no disruptions in service (780) 685-3842.
Both Students and Staff play an active role in selecting books for the library. Who better to help out with the selection than those who actually read the books requested! If you have a particular book or series of books that you would like to see in the library, please let the librarian know and I will see where it goes from there.
As part of the Peace Library System, our Staff, Students and Public Patrons have access to many databases. You can access the online catalogue when doing a book search, place a book request from another library, read newspapers and magazines, find "do-it-yourself" manuals, learn a new language and download e-books. For more information, please go to the Peace Library System website at http://www.peacelibrarysystem.ab.ca and look for the links to the many databases offered. If you are wanting to look for a particular book and would like to place a request, please go to http://www.tracpac.ab.ca. When you log in, you will need to use your 14 digit library card barcode and the last four digits of your phone number as your password. As soon as your book(s) arrive, you will be contacted.
Please feel free to drop by and check us out!
The Peace River School Division now offers to our students and staff, the opportunity to download e-books. To access the e-books, please visit this link and follow the instructions given. This site does work better if you have Google Chrome on your personal computer. It is available on all school computers. If you are a student or staff member, your log in is your school email address. Once you have chosen a book that you would like to download, you will be asked to set up an Adobe ID. Books generally are available but some do have a wait list. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Enjoy!
